Muir Ranch is a 3.5-acre biodynamic urban teaching farm and teen jobs program at John Muir High School in Pasadena, California. In 2011, a dedicated team of volunteer teachers and students began converting a 1.5 acres of John Muir High School Campus into an urban farm. Since its launch in May 2012, more than 50 teens have participated in the program and the farm has expanded.
Muir Ranch offers CSA subscriptions for weekly boxes of fruit and vegetables grown by students at Muir Ranch and other regional farmers. In additional the students run a flower design business that provides custom arrangements for weddings, events and local businesses.
When you choose Muir Ranch, you are making a conscious choice to support a student-run social enterprise aimed at teaching at-risk youth invaluable business and life skills through hands on learning. Each CSA subscription funds the year-round internship program for Muir students.
